Urfa Castle

Urfa Castle is located in Yakubiye District of Eyyübiye district of Şanlıurfa. It is approximately 5 km away from the city center. It is possible to reach with your private vehicle via İpekyol Boulevard/D400.

Urfa Castle is among the important historical values of the city. The castle, which is estimated to have been built between 812 and 814, has become the symbol of the city. The castle, which is thought to have been used by the Romans, is located on a steep rock. The castle, which is surrounded by walls, has a total of 25 bastions.

The most striking thing in the castle are the historical ruins from the Islamic and Byzantine periods. The castle, which has witnessed many wars since its construction, has a total of two columns approximately 14 m high. You should definitely visit the castle, one of the most important historical buildings of Şanlıurfa, when you come to the city.

The entrance fee to Urfa Castle is 10 TL per person. It is open to visitors every day of the week between 10.00 in the morning and 17.00 in the evening.
